Bienvenue à L'École Bilingue, |
PAC NewsA very enjoyable evening was had by all attending the January PAC meeting where Meeru Dhalwhal gave an informative and entertaining presentation on health and nutrition, with great tips for simple ways to create kid friendly dishes that are quick to prepare. Kirk Seggie of Andrew Peller Ltd followed with a short overview on wine and food paring, and we were then treated to a sampling of butter chicken schnitzel and refreshments. Many thanks to Meeru and Kirk for a very successful evening! Katherine Q. (Posted: Feb 9, 2010) |
PAC News: Addendum to Quebec PolicyThe following addendum to the Quebec Policy addressing accessing Legacy Funds is proposed. The addendum will be up for discussion and approval at the PAC meeting on Mar 1st. Quebec Policy Addendum: PAC Executive, February 7, 2010 Background: Government funding is currently available from 4 agencies (SEVEC, YMCA, Canada Sports Friendship, and 4H) to help facilitate bilingual exchanges between French Immersion schools in Canada. These funds may contribute towards the expenses for 10 to 30 students. Historically, the number of students funded has varied from year to year from zero to all Grade 7 students, depending on the government budget. The Quebec Legacy Fund (the "Fund") comprises surplus funds obtained from fundraising efforts in support of the L'École Bilingue Grade 7 Quebec Exchange over the past decade. Accessing funds: Funds from the Quebec Legacy Fund are available to put towards exchange expenses for the balance of students in any given year that are not covered by government funding. In order to ensure funds are available for consecutive years that are unable to secure government funding, the amount available per student will vary with the reserves in the Fund as follows:
In any given year, the Quebec Exchange Committee may apply to the PAC Executive for these funds in January of the year of the exchange. These funds are only available if exchange applications have been submitted to all four government sources (proof of application will be required).
